How Alkaline foods create whole-body health

In order to create wellness, the human body must maintain a slightly alkaline pH balance, which ensures that there is adequate oxygen in the blood for cells to function normally. By consuming too many acidic foods, such as meats, dairy vegetable oils, and even certain grains and legumes - without properly balancing them with alkaline foods - you could be increasing your potential for disease.

Some of the symptoms of an overly acidic body include inflammation, digestive issues, Candida, irritability, low energy and immune deficiency.

Eating plenty of alkaline foods, and staying well hydrated, will not only prevent these health complications down the road, it will actually help you feel more energized and improve your mood.

Here are 3 simple tips to stay mostly alkaline:

1. Drink warm water with lemon every morning. This will alkalize you at the start of the day and prepare your digestive system for efficient functioning. Drinking lemon water at other times of the day will also help you regain digestive balance if you consumed more acidic foods than usual.

2. Eat lots of greens. Most green foods are alkaline, so you don’t have to remember which ones are best, just eat them all! In the words of IIN speaker Paul Pitchford, “if you’re green inside, you’re clean inside.”

3. Have raw or lightly cooked vegetables cover over 50% of your plate. This method will allow you to consume other foods you love knowing that the overall meal is balanced to neutralize acidic compounds.

Of course, if you are a food list lover, research the most common alkaline and acidic foods . . . .
